What We Do

Since 1917 , Lions Clubs around the world have been recognized for their service to the visually impaired and hearing impaired. The majority of the world's eye banks have been established by and are currently supported by Lions Clubs, as are hundreds of clinics, hospitals and eye research centers.

Find your inner power by helping others

Trees play an important role in sustaining a healthy environment. Every tree planted by a Lion is part of a large scale effort by members around the world to make a significant impact on the environment

During the past year Lions reported planting over 15 million trees.

As a Lions club member, you’ll join a local group of service-minded men and women who are volunteering to support your community every day. You’ll also become a member of Lions Clubs International – a respected international organization – a leader in your local community and a friend to people in need.

SERVICE

Lions Clubs International, a service membership organization of over 1.4 million members worldwide (as of April 2015), was founded in the United States on June 7, 1917, by Melvin Jones, a Chicago businessman. Jones asked, with regard to his colleagues, "What if these men who are successful because of their drive, intelligence and ambition, were to put their talents to work improving their communities?" Jones' personal code, "You can't get very far until you start doing something for somebody else," reminds many Lions of the importance of community service.

The Lions motto is "We Serve." Local Lions Club programs include sight conservation, hearing and speech conservation, diabetesawareness, youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues, and many other programs. The discussion of politics and religion is forbidden. The LIONS acronym also stands for

Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations' Safety.
